If you found this post then you are likely a Creighton basketball podcast junky like I am. Yes, it seems a little ridiculous to the casual fan, but after you listen to the post-Bluejay basketball game wrap-up and Bluejay Overtime on 1620 The Zone, I am still looking for more takes.
Then after covering the Bluejay basketball podcasts that I knew about, I started searching for more. I hope I can save you some time with this list of all men’s Creighton basketball podcasts. I was surprised how few came up using the search in Apple Podcasts. Pro tip: search for these with actual podcast names. They may not come up if you just put in “Creighton Bluejay Basketball”. Or I provide a link to the feed to every podcast mentioned so you can just come back to this page to find the most recent episodes published.
Nick Bahe Podcast
I value Nick Bahe’s take because of his status of playing four seasons of Division 1 basketball and making it to the NCAA tournament three times. Of course, 3 of those years were at Creighton (one redshirt year (remember those)). He is now a college basketball analyst with Fox Sports and has the inside scoop on NCAA basketball and more specifically, Creighton Bluejay basketball. The only downside is that he gets busy with his TV work and doesn’t do a game-by-game podcast and breakdown each week of the season.
This is a must-listen during the season, but may not be enough content if you want game-by-game analysis. I am a true “Jaysker” (a fan of the Bluejays and the Nebraska Cornhuskers typically caused by following the Huskers through youth years and then attending Creighton or generally being from Omaha) so I listen to every podcast since they normally are Creighton Bluejays basketball or Nebraska football and basketball related.
Bluejay Beat
Long-time Bluejay basketball deep thinker, Matt DeMarinis, gets together with Omaha World Herald Creighton beat writer, Joel Lorenzi, and other guest hosts, to catch Creighton fans up on what is going on. They talk about hoops, schedules, and a wide variety of topics. This is only accessible as a premium podcast through Patreon at $4.99. Matt has deep knowledge of the current Jays and a lot of history.

They publish a long-form wrap-up show for each game during the season (I like the commitment) and switch up their co-hosts with some familiar names (John Bishop, Ravi Lulla, Matt DeMarinis, etc.) and ex-Bluejay players. Of course, if it could be posted right after the game that would be fantastic, but they appear to at least go live early the next day. Did I pay the 4.99? I certainly did and will likely stay subscribed through the season to give it a try.
Bluejays at The B
I happened to find this podcast earlier this season. As far as I can tell Pat, Jack, and Christian (I don’t know any of them personally) get a group of people together at the B. Bar in Omaha, Nebraska after games and drink and talk Bluejay basketball. It is a low-fi experience but they have the best intro music of any show on this list. I am a little jealous that I didn’t come up with this idea.
I don’t always listen to full episodes but it is breaking into my regular rotation since they normally record after every game and seem to be a knowledgable, passionate fan and old enough to have some history with the program. I don’t consider this one family-friendly. In some episodes they “let the expletives fly”.
Welcome To The Jay With Jahenns Manigat
Jahenns Manigat played on some of Creighton’s best, most memorable, and most entertaining basketball teams. As his career overseas winds down, he’s partnered with The Field of 68 to launch a Creighton-centric podcast. If you followed the Jays from 2010 on, you will appreciate the inside scoop. Many former players from those years are guests and give up the goods on what was going on in those years. Especially during the Doug McDermott era that ran in parallel with Jahenns Bluejay’s career.
This podcast primarily runs during the season on about a weekly cadence covering the most recent one or two games played that week. I wish Jahenns would spring for a slightly better audio setup, but I still listen to every episode.
Bluejay Banter Podcast
The Bluejay Banter Post Game Show is hosted by Tim Krueger, previous host of Bluejay Overtime on 1620 the Zone. Part of the reason I put this list together is that I wanted to know where Tim took his show. I just couldn’t believe that he would have stopped doing a show altogether.
He is a homer, has Creighton history, and is opinionated. All things that make for a good Creighton basketball podcast host. He is also growing as an NCAA bracketologist. He co-hosts with former Creighton Bluejay, Ross Ferrarrini when they do their instant reaction shows after the games.
The only knock is that the feed doesn’t have consistent instant reactions for every game. You also have to navigate through periodic Bluejay Banter general interest shows or look at their YouTube channel.
1620 The Jays Podcast
Hosts John Bishop, Josh Peterson, and Connor Happer do a weekly show about general Creighton Bluejay sports, featuring interviews with coaches, players, and alumni. This is not exclusively Bluejay basketball so you may pick and choose those episodes you are interested in. I appreciate the thoroughness of John Bishop’s interviews with coaches of the less popular sports. I was amazed at how much knowledge he had about Creighton Bluejay women’s softball. He must do his research and had great questions ready to go.
Now, what I really like about this find is that they publish the 20-minute post-game show with Bishop and his color analyst of the week (normally a former Bluejay basketball player) as a podcast in their feed as well. It doesn’t always release in Apple podcasts in a timely manner, which I consider the next morning or at least within 24 hrs). But it relieves the pressure when you already watched 2 hours plus of basketball and your wife doesn’t understand while you need 30 minutes more of post-game comment. You can just listen to it the next day.
Scurry and The Scrub
This is part of the White & Blue Review network. The host, former Bluejay, Jordan Scurry, has a great radio audio presence and I would love to see him increase the frequency and do post-game reaction shows. I think he appears on the Bluejay Beat podcast periodically which is now available exclusively for Patreon subscribers.
The Let It Fly Show
Former Bluejay Josh Jones cohosts this podcast with Omaha sports talk personality Mike’l Severe. But, this is not exclusively Creighton basketball material. I will look at this podcast to see if the guest looks interesting, but I tend to be looking for post-game reactions.
The Let It Fly Show is a weekly sports podcast connecting fans to their favorite athletes and sharing never heard before stories, exclusive content, special guest appearances, and deep conversations covering all Nebraska sports and the top storylines from around the world.
Half-Court Press
Dirk Chatelain (recently retired and we will see who they replace him with) and Joel Lorenzi go in-depth on all the latest Creighton and Nebraska basketball news. Obviously, not just Creighton basketball but Dirk Chatelain is a Nebraska sports writing treasure. And Omaha World Herald sports writing newcomer Joel Lorenzi has a fresh perspective on these two basketball programs. This is worth a listen, but the frequency isn’t quite regular enough to make my regular rotation. They seem to publish every 7 to 14 days.
Bluejay Breakdown
This is Hurrdat Media’s Creighton-specific entry into the podcast fray. Host, Ana Bellinghausen and friends break down and analyze Creighton men’s and women’s basketball. The only issue is that they have there hasn’t been a show released since December 2022. That isn’t quite current enough for me to stay subscribed but we will see if they pick it up.
Coffee and Cream with Andrew Rogers and Damon Benning
Andrew Rogers and Damon Benning normally have a segment or two focusing on Creighton basketball before a game and after. I always appreciate Benning’s take on basketball and think it is worth putting in your rotation. The feed also has another afternoon show so you may have to dig through the title and description of each episode to see if they are talking about Creighton basketball that day.
Creighton Basketball Podcast
At least this one is clear on the subject matter. This one advertises “Hayden gives in-depth coverage of every game, every single week”. But, it looks like they came out hot out of the gate and then stopped producing episodes in 2021. Hayden sounds like a nice guy and enthusiastic, but I don’t see this one coming back. It looks like they use the official trademarked Creighton Bluejay logo for their artwork. Perhaps the university didn’t like that and shut it down.
Section 229: Creighton Basketball Talk
Blake Carver, Austin Gaule and Brock Schuetz, three friends from Section 229, avid fans, and season ticket holders talk Creighton Basketball. This podcast may have faded with fans coming back into the arena. It looks like they stopped publishing at the end of the 2021 season.
I listened to a couple of back episodes and it was really well produced. They were able to bring on some good guests such as ex-Bluejay ballers Brody Deren and Jimmy Motz. We will keep this feed on the page in case they ever decide to bring it back.
