The Best Football Gloves for Kids: Under Armour, Cutters, Battle, Franklin, Seibertron, Adidas, Nike, SPOMAT, and Finger Ten
My eight-year-old son and I spend a lot of time throwing passes to each other. Over and over we run wheel routes, down and outs, three-step slants, and any other passing route I can dream up. He seems to never tire of it. As winter entered this year in Nebraska I thought it would be cool to get him some football gloves specifically for kids.
I decided to make it a Christmas gift and did way more research than was probably necessary for a $25 purchase. But, I wanted to get exactly the right set of football gloves kids would love. I hope this article will help speed up your process. we researched over 15 different pairs before we decided on the right pair for us.
We list the pair we bought as #1 and then share our ranking of 9 more that we also liked but decided not to buy and include notes from our research on each.
By the way, I was right on the gift choice. When he opened the package up his eyes lit up and was delighted. He has used them almost every day since and it is cold out there!

1. Under Armour F7 Football Gloves Kids
We ended up purchasing this set of Under Armour football gloves. First things first. They had to come in youth sizes (by the way there is a sizing chart at the bottom of the post). The F7 is specifically for kids. The Under Armour F6 are available in adult and youth glove sizes.
Here was my criteria for evaluating each pair of youth football gloves:
- They had to come in kid’s sizes
- Under 30 dollars since they would be outgrown in a year or two
- Have the sticky or tacky grip on the palm side
- Look cool like the pros
- Be a recognizable name brand
- Must have an adjustable closure
- Have at least 3 reviews that looked real and favorably addressed their use with kids
The Under Armour F7 checked all of those boxes. We ended up getting the black since I wasn’t letting him choose the color because they were going to be a Christmas present. Kids can choose other colors (white, yellow, pink, red, and two shades of blue). Based on feedback in the reviews that these ran small I bought a size larger than the recommendation in the size chart. It worked out well for us.
I found there were some really good-looking non-name brand options as well that are included in our list. But, I went with a recognizable brand for vanity’s sake since it would be something he may see on TV.
Under Armour is a popular name in sports equipment, and these football gloves for kids meet high school and college standards. The sweat-wicking technology in the fabric keeps the player’s hands cool and dry. Plus, these polyester gloves are machine washable.
We use a smaller football when we throw but my son was catching some passes one-handed which he really had not been able to do before. I will credit that, at least in part, to the tacky surface of the glove doing their job. We are only two weeks in but so far so good. I don’t expect the gloves to last forever and will be interested in how they wear and tear through the next year. In the video below you can see a little fraying on one of the thumbs but so far so good.
2. Cutters Revolution Pro Football Gloves
Cutters line of gloves has a great reputation. Cutters use a patented C-TACK technology that protects the hands without compromising the player’s grip. Each pair features a no-slip velcro band at the wrist, and they can handle the harsh weather.
Kids can choose from ten size options: four youth and six adults. There are also seven color options to get the look and fit they desire. These looked great but were slightly more than we wanted to spend.
3. Battle Double Threat Football Gloves
Speaking of colors and performance, Battle delivers a solid pair of football gloves for kids and adults. Aside from the impressive and vibrant color selection of football gloves, these gloves feature an ultra-stick grip that is legal for most levels of gameplay.
Kids will love the choice of nine bold colors and eight sizes (youth and adult). Plus, Battle offers a 90-day durability guarantee. Again, these were at a higher price point than we wanted to pay.
4. Franklin Sports Youth Football Gloves
Who is your football player’s favorite NFL team? You could let your child (safely) show off their fandom on game day with NFL-specific gloves. Parents can feel good about the protection because these are safe, breathable, and built for comfort.
Franklin offers two youth sizes, X-small/Small or Medium/Large. However, kids can choose any NFL team. The company also has an NCAA line that features several division one college teams. These looked like a lot of fun but I didn’t want to commit to a team and thought the non-team designs in other gloves looked cooler.
5. Seibertron Pro Football Gloves Kids
Siebertron has an affordable line for youth football players. These gloves offer a performance boost and work well in most weather conditions. Plus, parents will love that they are machine washable!
There are only four color options, but you get five sizes to choose from, and fit matters when protecting your child’s hands. I loved how the backhand portion of these gloves looked but was not a fan of the horoscope symbols on the palm side.
6. Cutters Gamer Football Gloves for Lineman and All-Purpose Players
What if your kid isn’t a receiver? Football gloves offer serious protection for other positions, especially linemen who often come in contact with helmets, shoulder pads, and cleats. These gloves still have C-TAK grip, but they also feature cushioning in key places. Players still have plenty of flexibility and grip, but the backs of the hands get a little extra protection.
Kids can choose a youth medium or large or size up to an adult glove. The color options include black, red, royal blue, and white. I was really looking for pass-catching gloves. These look great if you are grooming a little interior lineman.
7. Adidas Adifast 3.0 Youth Football Gloves
Adidas is another household name in sports, so it should be no surprise that it makes a decent football glove for kids. The poly-blend gloves sport the familiar Adidas logo in various colors and sizes. These gloves feature GripTack, the company’s custom palm treatment that holds up under all weather conditions.
Choose from five different youth sizes, XS up to XL, and four colors. I am a fan of Adidas but, for whatever reason, I felt that these looked a little “soccerish” rather than football. It is just my opinion. They met all the criteria otherwise.
8. Nike Youth Superbad 4.5 Football Gloves
It’s not easy to discuss youth football gloves without mentioning at least one Nike product. The Superbad 4.5 gloves represent some of the coolest on the list. They have a solid grip, but you might want to order a size down.
There’s not much in color selection, only black, blue, or white. You can choose small or large for sizing. Passing up the Nike brand was tough. Again, it met all the criteria and looked cool. But the Under Armour pair just edged them out.
9. SPOMAT Youth Football Gloves
Aside from the flashy patterns across the back of the hand, these gloves focus on pure function. Simply wipe a damp cloth across the silicone palm to activate the stick factor before taking the field. The manufacturer backs the product and offers a money-back guarantee.
You only have two size options, Extra Small/Small or Medium/Large. There is only one color option as well. If I had more time to research I may have given these a shot. They were not name brand but they had great reviews and were on the lower end of the price point (which sometimes makes you nervous). Based on the measurement of my son’s hand I think the lack of size offerings would have made me double think these gloves as well.
10. Finger Ten Football Gloves Kids
These durable, lightweight gloves come with a desirable price tag. Finger Ten crafted some breathable, flexible gloves with a silicone grip that handles any weather conditions. There’s no extra padding at the back of the hand, but the material has a cooling effect for comfort.
Plus, kids can choose from four bold color options and four size options to get the look and fit they need. I wasn’t a big fan of the design on these. They were under 20 dollars, which, again, makes you a little wary when it is at a low price point and not a major brand. That being said, they had pretty good reviews.
Football Glove Sizing Chart
One of the most important things in buying football gloves for kids or youth is to get the size right. You should be able to find a chart for the specific vendor you decide to buy from. This photo below gives you a good rule of thumb for how to measure your child’s hand. Everything I read in reviews about the Under Armour gloves I bought was that they ran a little small. I took the measurement and then got the next size bigger. You want to measure from the base of your child’s palm to the tip of their middle finger.
Are Football Gloves Necessary?
Football is one of the great American sports, and thousands of kids hit the gridiron each week. Given the nature of the sport, it’s important to give our kids the right gear. Choosing equipment that’s protective while improving performance is a challenge, especially with so many options available. Football gloves for kids are no exception.
Football gloves protect players’ hands, and many kids like to wear them to look like their favorite pro players. As a parent, you probably care more about the best football gloves for kids’ safety more than how they look. They are not necessary but are great for cold weather and definitely make your son or daughter feel legit. I was surprised to hear my son say he was the only kid on the playground that didn’t have them.

Summary
Obviously, the best football gloves for kids are ones that fit and give them confidence on the field. However, we chose the Under Armour F7 because it met all of my criteria. They are breathable and flexible but provide enough protection and grip. We hope they will be great gloves for flag football next season.
