Lululemon Men’s Pants Sizing Guide: Find Your Perfect Fit Size Chart
I know you’re nervous. Will I feel stupid going into a store known for yoga pants? I was in the same boat. But, then an unprompted unpaid shout-out from one of my favorite college basketball analysts, sportscaster, and podcaster, Nick Bahe, gave me permission to take the plunge. I can’t even recall how the subject came up, but he told a story about how he got into his first pair. The bottom line, he loved them. If they are OK for NIck Bahe then they are good enough for me. I am now a proud owner of two ABC Classic pants in black and blue. But, in case you are still too embarrassed to go into a store I created this Lululemon men’s pants sizing guide to help you buy online or, at least, get in and out of the store more quickly.
Lululemon is a well-known brand that has become synonymous with high-quality activewear. The brand, founded by Chip Wilson, has been around for decades now and has built a reputation for producing clothing that is both stylish and functional (here is an excellent interview of Wilson on the Tim Ferriss podcast).
Why Lululemon Men’s Pants Sizing is Important
One of the challenges of buying Lululemon men’s pants is getting the sizing right. Lululemon uses a unique sizing system that can be confusing for some customers. Unlike traditional sizing systems, Lululemon’s sizing is based on a person’s body measurements, rather than their waist size. This means that customers need to take accurate measurements before buying Lululemon pants to ensure a good fit.
Lululemon offers a wide range of sizes to accommodate different body types and preferences. From slim-fit to relaxed-fit, there’s a pair of pants for everyone. But it’s not just about the fit – Lululemon also takes into account the type of activity you’ll be doing.
For example, if you’re doing yoga or Pilates, you’ll want a pair of pants that are flexible and allow for a full range of motion. Lululemon’s ABC (Anti-Ball Crushing) pants are designed specifically for this type of activity, with a gusseted crotch and four-way stretch fabric. I did not make that acronym up. It is a quote from the fashion blog TheCut.com as you see below.
On the other hand, if you’re doing high-intensity interval training (HIIT) or running, you’ll want pants that are moisture-wicking and breathable. Lululemon’s Surge Joggers and Pace Breaker Shorts (to be clear, we are going to talk pants here) are great options for these types of workouts.
Overall, Lululemon Men’s Pants Sizing is important because it ensures that you’re comfortable and able to perform at your best during any type of workout. With a variety of sizes and styles to choose from, you’re sure to find a pair of pants that fits your body and your needs.
Decide What Lululemon Pants You Want
The different styles, cuts, fabrics, and features of Lululemon men’s pants are dizzying. There is so much to dig through that you may want to give up. Many of the pants cross categories. I am going to concentrate on the pants I think I can get away with wearing to work (ABC, Commission, and Utilitech) or out to dinner (My wife still doesn’t buy that any of their stretchy pants are work-ready). I don’t need $100+ sweatpants or shorts.
Men’s Trousers and Casual Pants
Just to make this confusing they have “Trousers” and “Casual” in separate categories on the website. So many of the pants cross categories that I just lumped them together. The links will take you right to the pants on the Lululemon website.
- ABC Pant (Anti-Ball Crushing) Warpstreme (Slim Fit and Classic)– A versatile pant with extra room for comfort and mobility, suitable for both casual and office wear. Everyday performance Warpstreme fabric.
- ABC Pull-On Pant – Made from their high-performance, wrinkle-resistant Warpstreme™ fabric.

- ABC Utilitech Pants (Slim Fit, Skinny, and Classic) – These are jeans with their Utilitech anti-abrasion fabric.
- Commission Pant Warpstreme (Slim Fit and Classic) – Everyday performance Warpstreme fabric. These seem to be fan favorites on their website reviews. A classic flat front-inspired chino style designed for all-day comfort and a polished look.
- Classic-Fit Hiking Pant – I am not sure why these are considered trousers. They are built for hiking with panels of stretchy, abrasion-resistant fabric.

- Relaxed Tapered Trouser

Men’s Golf Pants
I didn’t want to do another category. Most of the golf pants are listed in men’s casual pants as well, but there were a few net new entries for golf so I did the work.

- ABC Utilitech Pants (Slim Fit and Classic) – These are jeans with their Utilitech anti-abrasion fabric. I am not sure why a jean would be listed under golf pants.

Understanding Lululemon Men’s Pants Sizing
Lululemon is known for its high-quality athletic wear, and its men’s pants are no exception. However, their sizing can be a bit confusing for some customers. Here’s what you need to know to find the perfect fit:
First, it’s important to note that Lululemon uses a different sizing system than many other brands. They use a number system ranging from 28 to 46 for their pants. This number represents the waist measurement in inches. Then the tricky part is their limited number of inseams. Typically 28, 30, 32 , 34 and 37.
Just so it is confusing they use a lettered system (S, M, L, XL, etc.) for what I will classify as their more athletic line (joggers, tights, sweatpants). As a general rule, if you have a fly zipper there are numbered and if you pull them on and they stay it uses letter sizing. You probably get the picture, but the table below gives you examples of how they are measured by style.
Numbered Sizing | Lettered Sizing (S, M, L, XL, etc.) |
---|---|
ABC Pant Warpstreme | ABC Pull-On Pant |
Classic-Fit Hiking Pant | License to Train Pant |
Commission Pant Warpstreme | Surge Jogger |
ABC Utilitech Pants | City Sweat Jogger |
Utilitech Carpenter Pant | Warm Down Jogger |
Utilitech Pull-On Pant | |
Gridliner Pull-On Trouser |
However, Lululemon also takes into account the fit of the pants, so you may need to size up or down depending on the style you choose. For example, if you prefer a slim fit, you may want to go up a size. If you prefer the classic fit, you may want to go up a size.
The limited inseam choices are where I run into issues. I am 6’3″ and around 190 – 195 lbs. I have found the slim-style pants too short in a 34″ inseam. The perfect fit would likely be a 34 with a 35″ inseam. I ended up with ABC Classics in a 34 with 34″ inseam. I like them but they are slightly roomier than I want. They didn’t have a 33 with a 34″ inseam.
Another factor to consider is the type of fabric. Lululemon offers a variety of fabrics, each with its own unique properties. Some fabrics are more stretchy than others, so you may need to adjust your size accordingly. Here are their most frequently used fabrics for men’s pants:
- Warpstreme – Warpstreme feels like smooth gym short material and is a blend of Lycra fibers and sweat-wicking yarns. It is quick-drying with four-way stretch and will show some shine depending on the color. Warpstreme fabric is often used in Commission and ABC Pants designed for all-day wear in casual and office settings.
- Utilitech – This is more of a jean or canvas-feeling fabric but still has the infused stretch fabric.
- WovenAir – This is a water-repellent fabric stretchy fabric that, based on some subReddits tends to be favored in hotter weather.
Finally, it’s always a good idea to try on a few different sizes and styles to find what works best for you. Lululemon offers free hemming services, so don’t be afraid to buy a longer length and have them tailored to your exact measurements.
Finding the Right Fit for You
Choosing the right size of Lululemon Men’s Pants can be a bit tricky. Here are some tips to help you find the perfect fit:
- Take your measurements: Measure your waist and inseam to determine your size. Lululemon provides a size chart on their website to help you find your size based on your measurements.
- Try them on: If possible, try on the pants in-store to ensure the best fit. Lululemon stores have a variety of sizes available for you to try on. Some sizes are noted as online only on the website.
- Consider the style: Different styles of pants may fit differently. For example, joggers may fit more snugly than sweatpants. Consider the intended use of the pants when selecting a size.
It’s important to note that Lululemon Men’s Pants are designed to fit snugly and stretch with your movements. Don’t be alarmed if they feel tight at first – they should loosen up a bit as you wear them. I find that they tighten back up a little after washing.
If you’re still unsure about which size to choose, Lululemon offers free virtual shopping assistance on its website.

Tips for Measuring Yourself
When it comes to purchasing Lululemon Men’s Pants, it is important to get the right size to ensure maximum comfort and performance. Here are some tips for measuring yourself accurately:
- Use a cloth measuring tape for the most accurate measurements. Avoid using a metal measuring tape or ruler as they can be less precise.
- Measure your waist at the narrowest part, typically just above your belly button. Make sure the tape is snug but not too tight.
- Measure your hips at the widest part, typically around the fullest part of your buttocks. Again, make sure the tape is snug but not too tight.
- Measure your inseam from the top of your inner thigh down to your ankle bone. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and have someone else measure you for the most accurate measurement.
If you are between sizes, it is recommended to size up for a more comfortable fit. Additionally, Lululemon offers a hemming service for their pants, so if you find that the inseam is too long, you can have them hemmed for a perfect fit.

Video Men’s Pants Explained: Fits, Fabrics, and Features
This walks you through the difference between ABC and Commision pants as well as a few jogger styles. One thing that it didn’t note is that the ABC has more of a jean styling. on the front pockets whereas the Commision has more of a dress pant pocketing (I may have just made up that word) and styling. This is specific to men’s pants and is about 4 minutes long.
Conclusion And My Next Lululemon Trip
Based on my own experience and reading customer reviews, it’s clear that Lululemon Men’s Pants Sizing can be a bit tricky. My 12-year-old daughter is in love with the brand and I find myself in there more often than I would like. Most recently, in their Las Vegas outlet store. I was completely lost. Now, after doing all this research I may have a fighting chance of finding a bargain. There was just so much I couldn’t target what I really wanted. Now I know I am looking for either the ABC, Commisson, or Utilitech pants, and what sizes may fit in each style. Here is a picture of the most recent pair of Lululemon pants I bought.
My hope is that by reading this article, taking your measurements, and consulting the size chart, you can enter the store more confident in what you want and get out fast. They just opened up a new store close to our house and I may give my newfound expertise a test run later this week. Although my wife will not be pleased with another $130 pair of pants that I think I can wear to work and to dinner and she does not.
